To get to the future, only the present matters

Everything is a process. It is a lot harder than we think it is, when we first start out, tempted by how juicy and wonderful the fruit of our labour looks at the end.

"Oh, I'll get there in no time!" I thought.

It did not turn out that way. There were many stumbling blocks along the way. Then I started realizing the road there is not smooth and is never going to be smooth. The potholes in the road were covered by a fog or leaves, and I only knew of their existence when I stepped into one of them. And that, I did constantly.

There is no point lusting over the sweet fruit at the end when your eyes are not on the road immediately in front of you. The journey does not allow you to walk leisurely at your own pace - it makes you climb, crawl, run and fall incessantly. You will mostly likely not teleport over either, though there were many a times I sincerely wished I could have done so.

In short, to get to the future, only the present matters.
Remember, keep an eye on the goal, but always watch the road in front of you.

A Softer World

I was going to figure out this postage, and send you my heart for Christmas. But my friends talked me out of it. They said, "Why would you send her something broken?"
